Scott Vanderwiel is a highly respected HVAC industry veteran with nearly five decades of experience. He began his career in 1976 at JM Mechanical, where as the company’s first employee, he helped grow the organization to 12 employees over a ten-year period. In 1986, Scott founded Hawthorn Heating & Air Conditioning out of his home and successfully built the business over 20 years to 37 employees and more than 6,200 maintenance agreements.
In 2006, Scott sold Hawthorn Heating to Nicor Services and continued with the organization, playing a key role in expanding the company to over 100 employees and approximately 75,000 maintenance agreements within five and a half years. Since 2011, Scott has been with TEC, where he continues to contribute his extensive knowledge, leadership, and passion for the HVAC industry—proof that experience truly matters (even if it does add up to almost 50 years).
